Royals Reveals Windsors’ Appeal
Three’s record-rating Harry and Meghan interview may have piqued interest in TVNZ 1’s The Royals Revealed, which last night won its slot in the network’s key commercial demographic.
The premiere averaged 4.0% of 25-54 year-olds, and built its audience once Three’s Married at First Sight Australia ended halfway through the hour; it averaged 3.4% of 18-49 year-olds and 6.0% of viewers 5+.
TVNZ 2’s 8.30 rival Wellington Paranormal averaged 2.7% of 25-54s and 1.8% of 18-49s; its lead-out, a repeat of Travel Guides NZ, averaged 1.8% of both demos.
Three’s The Rookie, which aired from 9.00, averaged 2.3% of 25-54s and 2.0% of 18-49s, on the back of MAFS’ time slot-winning 4.6% and 4.2%.
TVNZ 2’s The Bachelor NZ finished well behind MAFS and TVNZ 1’s Five Gold Rings, with an 18-49 average of 2.8% and a 25-54 viewership of 3.1%.
The Royals Revealed delivered Coronation Street a strong lead-in, but while the first half-hour rivalled The Rookie’s last half-hour for 25-54 honours, Prime’s Louis Theroux’s Altered States dominated from 10.00 with a 25-54 average of 1.2%.
Thanks to the supremacy of The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp, TVNZ 1 easily won the night with the biggest shares of the 25-54 and 18-49 demos while Three stole TVNZ 2’s 18-39 crown.
