S2 of Teheran Closes In

Season two of the award-winning global spy thriller Tehran will premiere May 6 on Apple TV+ with Glenn Close in the cast.

It will debut with the first two episodes, wth new instalments streaming each Friday through June 17.

Close will play a British woman, living in Tehran, who befriends on-the-run undercover Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan (Niv Sultan).

According to Deadline, Close “is a big fan of the series” and the new role was “created for her”.

Next month Apple TV+  will launch another international drama series, the epic Pachinko, which will be told across three languages: Korean, Japanese and English.

It will debut with the first three episodes on March 25, with new weekly instalments streaming each Friday through April 29.

The eight-part series is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and is billed as “a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell an unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning”.

It was written and executive produced by Soo Hugh (The TerrorThe Killing), who was the creator and showrunner. 

Also coming soon to Apple TV+ are:

Lincoln’s Dilemma, a four-part documentary series about President Lincoln’s efforts to end slavery. Narrated by Jeffery Wright, and featuring the voices of Bill Camp as Abraham Lincoln and Leslie Odom, Jr. as Frederick Douglass, it’s billed as “a 21st century examination of a complicated man and the people and events that shaped his evolving stance on slavery”. (February 18.)

The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey is a limited six-part stars about an ailing man (Samuel L Jackson) forgotten by his family and friends. On the brink of sinking even deeper into a lonely dementia, he is assigned to the care of an orphaned teenager (Dominique Fishback). When they learn about a treatment that can restore his memories, it opens up “shocking truths about the past, present and future”. (March 11 with first two episodes, then weekly.)
