Samsung Next-Gen SUHD TVs Set to Sizzle

Samsung’s newest SUHD range will go on sale here in the second quarter.

Unveiled today at CES, the second-generation line-up will include the the world’s first bezel-less curved design and what Samsung claims will be “the smartest user experience”, making it even easier to access all your entertainment content in one place.

Samsung’s Tizen operating system also eliminates the need to juggle multiple remote controls by automatically recognising the type of set-top box, game console, OTT box or home theatre system that is connected to the TV.

So, in theory, you should be able to operate all of the external devices with the Smart Control remote without having to go through a set-up procedure.

Samsung’s 2016 SUHD TVs will also feature the world’s only cadmium-free, 10-bit Quantum dot display, the company says, “offering the most true-to-life picture quality, with stunning brightness, exceptional contrast and the most lifelike colours ever offered by Samsung.”

Samsung hasn’t rule out manufacturing OLED TVs but in the meantime is betting on Quantum dot tech “to begin a new decade of global leadership” given the high volume production of LCD TVs.

“The future of display technology, Quantum dot converts light into nearly any colour in the visible spectrum without distortion or compromising the brightness level, delivering the optimum viewing experience for consumers, regardless of the lighting environment.”

Stay tuned for more details on the new SUHD range.

Looks like 2016 might be time for a new TV, Phil! Any idea what the price range might be?

  2. Nothing been’s disclosed so far but given Samsung’s 65-inch SUHD flagship last year cost $13K at launch, and there’s since been a 20% drop in the dollar, I’d say at least that much for this year’s model.
