Schedule Watch: August 10

Returning Sunday is 60 Minutes (Prime, 10.30): Scott Pelley speaks with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell about the US economy and Jon Wertheim reports on the Golden State Warriors, who are trying for their third straight NBA Championship. Unfortunately, both items are two months out of date. The Pelley interview aired June 2 on CBS and the NBA final was played on June 13.

On this weekend’s Sunday (TVNZ 1, 7.30), Jehan Casinader reports on the recent criticism of Oranga Tamariki, who have been accused of “stealing” Maori children, and failing to protect those already in care. But is the criticism deserved?

Appearing on this week’s Real Time With Bill Maher (SoHo/SoHo2, various times) are: NBC’s Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel; former Democratic Governor of Virginia and author of Beyond Charlottesville: Taking a Stand Against White Nationalism, Terry McAuliffe; USA Today contributor Tom Nichols; op-ed columnist for The Washington Post and CNN political commentator Catherine Rampell; and former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

Spark is in the spotlight when Monday’s Fair Go (TVNZ 1, 7.30) goes into bat for a man whose landline is only working part-time. Plus: What is coffee really doing to us?

Tuesday’s 20/20 (TVNZ 1, 9.30) presents the tragic tale of brothers Steven & Cary Stayner, both intrinsically tied to Yosemite Park: while one brother would be remembered a hero, the other would become the “Yosemite Killer”.
