Schedule Watch: July 13

Three has pulled Sunday’s free-to-air premiere of The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Instead, a re-run of Bridesmaids will air opposite TVNZ 2’s premiere of Baby Driver. Bodyguard will screen on July 21, against TVNZ 2’s premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Prime will screen Sunday’s Secrets of the World’s Super Skyscrapers from 7.00 and Concorde: The Supersonic Race from 8.00 to accommodate live coverage of the ICC Cricket World Cup final between NZ and England. The match will continue until 8am Monday, when delayed coverage of the Netball World Cup game between Silver Ferns and Singapore will air.

The cricket match also will be live captioned on Prime for the deaf and hard of hearing. The channel has worked with Able to provide this. But Prime’s Freeview coverage still will be visually impaired as it will be SD only.

To see the Black Caps in HD, you’ll need to watch Prime on Sky, or Sky Sport 2. Sky will precede the historic encounter with two specials: Road to the World Cup (Sky Sport 1, 7.30 tonight) and Sky Sport Cricket World Cup Special (Sky Sport 2, 8.30 tomorrow), with Bernadine Oliver-Kerby, Neil Wagner and Kyle Mills in the studio, and Sam Harris interviewing special guests at Lord’s.

This weekend’s Sunday (TVNZ 1, 7.30) follows Tamati Coffey and partner Tim Smith on their path to start a family as gay dads.

On Sunday’s Top Gear (Duke, 8.30), Paddy and Freddie set off for a jungle adventure in Borneo with the Gurkhas in a pair of very rare, cheap old cars while Chris tests the world’s most luxurious SUV, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Monday’s Fair Go (TVNZ 1, 7.30) battles it out with NZ’s biggest insurer for significant change to policy, after a couple accidentally put GoDiesel in their car instead of petrol.

Tuesday’s 20/20 (TVNZ 1, 9.30) examines the unprecedented story of fraud and narcissistic deception by former CEO Elizabeth Holmes and her now defunct billion-dollar health technology company, Theranos.

Booked this week for Prime’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert are:

  • Monday: Wanda Sykes, Vanessa Baye.
  • Tuesday: Ricky Gervais, X Ambassadors.
  • Wednesday: Awkwafina, Donny Deutsch, the Mountain Goats.
  • Thursday: Sofía Vergara, David Cross, Tove Lo.
  • Friday: Norah O’Donnell, Topher Grace.

And lined up for TVNZ 1’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show are:

  • Monday: Portia De Rossi.
  • Tuesday: Milo Ventimiglia.
  • Wednesday: Wanda Sykes.
  • Thursday: Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.
  • Friday: Mila Kunis.

Why does TVNZ continue to advertise Top Gear as same week as UK when NZ is one episode behind?

  2. Yay, I see season one of Timeless is being released on Blu-ray in September according to Mighty Ape. I notice on Amazon it’s only on DVD, at the moment anyway 🙂
