Schedule Watch: Networks Pre-empt and Dump

TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2 and Three have announced key scheduling changes for the next couple of weeks.

TVNZ 2 will pull Would I Lie to You? from its 9.30 Wednesday slot and replace it with the Rose Matafeo vehicle, Starstruck, starting April 28.

Matafeo, who won the Best Comedy Show award at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in 2018, created and wrote the comedy series with long-time collaborator Alice Snedden (Bad News). Reads the burb:

A drunken New Year’s Eve hook-up becomes far more complicated for Jessie (Matafeo) and Tom (Nikesh Patel) when she discovers her one night stand is actually an international film star. What she thought would become an amusing anecdote soon turns into something more, as the couple realise they can’t keep away from each other. Jessie’s world couldn’t be further from Tom’s, working multiple jobs to afford her overpriced flat she shares with her best friend, Kate (Emma Sidi). Despite her doubts and his fame, their connection brings them together to try to navigate a possible relationship under less than ordinary circumstances.

Starstruck also will stream on TVNZ OnDemand.

TVNZ 1 will upend Saturday night’s line-up to air live coverage of The Funeral of HRH Prince Philip from 11.30.

Dinner Date is being dropped at 10.50 for a repeat of The Vicar of Dibley in Lockdown while being pre-empted overnight are The Damned, The World’s Best, Coronation Street Omnibus and  Kirstie And Phil’s Love It or List It.

The funeral service also will re-run from 10.30am Sunday instead of Waka Huia, Seven Worlds, One PlanetSupershoppersSunday and Secret Scotland. (A Miranda re-run will follow the funeral at 2.40).

On Saturday afternoon, TVNZ 1 will pre-empt Your Home Made Perfect at 1.55 for The Duke In His Own Words.

Three will pre-empt Tuesday’s Married at First Sight Australia with a repeat of the 2007 movie 17 Again, which will push the rest of the night’s programmes back half-an-hour

“There have been a few changes to Married at First Sight Australia dates overseas,” a Three spokesperson says.

“This now allows us to have the vows in one week and the reunions the following week.”
