Schedule Watch: November 9

TVNZ 2 has blinked first and pulled Sunday’s network movie premiere of Kingsman: The Golden Circle because it would have clashed with Three’s repeat of Kingsman: The Secret Service. The sequel will now air next weekend; screening instead will be a repeat of Bad Moms. But the pre-emption interrupts a run of Sunday movie premieres for the channel, with last week’s Wonder Woman lassoing more viewers than the competition to win its slot in all the core commercial demographics.

Prime is adding two hours of turbo-charged softball coverage to its weekend schedule from today. Softball: Fastball 45 is billed as “a modified action-packed version of softball” taking place over three weekends at ELE Stadium in Rosedale Park, Albany. It will air from 2.30-4.30 Saturdays and Sundays.

This weekend’s Sunday (TVNZ 1, 7.30) pokes an angry hive: Aussies have been selling “Mānuka” honey for more than a century. But Kiwi beekeepers say that “Mānuka” is ours alone because it’s a Māori word. A lucrative industry is at stake.

Appearing on this week’s Real Time With Bill Maher (SoHo/SoHo2, various times) are:

  • Guests: Judge Judy Sheindlin; Judd Apatow.
  • Panellists: Steve Bullock, the Democratic Governor of Montana and a 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate; Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff to President Obama and the former Democratic Mayor of Chicago; Steve Schmidt, political analyst and former senior advisor to John McCain’s 2008 presidential race.

On Sunday’s 60 Minutes (Prime, 12.30am overnight): Anderson Cooper investigates Chinese espionage; the remarkable story of architect Chris Downey, who believes blindness made him a better architect; and the 12-year-old drawing comparisons with Mozart.

On Monday’s Fair Go (TVNZ 1, 7.30): A nine-year-old who’s had the last straw with Fonterra, a teen tackling the uneven sport merchandise playing field, and the smart cookies taking their concerns to Griffins.

Tuesday’s 20/20 (TVNZ 1, 9.45) will feature the first interview with Heather Tiffany Robinson, who at four months old, was abducted by serial killer John Robinson and raised by his family.

Booked this week for Prime’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert are:

  • Monday: Rachel Maddow, Thom Yorke
  • Tuesday: Will Smith, Andrew Scott
  • Wednesday: Liev Schreiber, Daniel Kaluuya, Cold War Kids
  • Thursday: Tim Robbins, Nicole Wallace
  • Friday: Mark Ruffalo, Andy Cohen.

And lined up for TVNZ 1’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show are:

  • Monday: Maya Rudolph and Dr. Rut
  • Tuesday: Shia Labeouf and Jon Dorenbos
  • Wednesday: Kerry Washington and Meghan Trainor
  • Thursday: Steve Carell and Ashley Graham
  • Friday: Kristen Bell, guest host Ken Jeong.
