Schedule Watch: October 11


The cancellation of the NZ vs Italy Rugby World Cup game means Saturday’s 1 News at 6pm will screen as normal while airing from 7.00-8.30 on TVNZ 1 will be RWC 2019: The Story So Far, a look back at the best of the tournament. The network also will add an episode of Dinner Date at 8.30.

The Story So Far will simulcast on TVNZ 1 and Spark Sport. The Ireland vs Samoa match is still scheduled for Saturday night, starting on Spark Sport at 11.15 (kick off at 11.45). “At this stage all other Rugby World Cup matches are due to play as scheduled, but the weather situation in Japan is clearly evolving and we will update if this changes,” Spark Sport says.

Three is adding Australia travel show Helloworld to its weekend schedule. It will air 5.30 Saturdays from tomorrow as the lead-in to Newshub Live. It’s also dropped 11.25am Saturday re-runs of Face Off for repeats of 9JKL from tomorrow.

This weekend’s Sunday (TVNZ 1, 7.30) asks if it’s time for a law change, when a mother lost her unborn child in a head-on crash and the driver at fault walked free, and follows a Melbourne mother’s return to Chernobyl.

Appearing on this week’s Real Time With Bill Maher (SoHo/SoHo2, various times) are:

  • Guests: Howard Stern; and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar
  • Panellists: Ben Domenech, the publisher of web magazine The Federalist; Shawna Thomas, Washington, D.C. Bureau Chief for Vice News; and John Heilemann, creator and co-host of Showtime’s The Circus.

Sunday’s 60 Minutes (Prime, 11.30) is being pre-empted for coverage of Wellington Phoenix vs Western United FC. And Prime’s Ultimate Bowls Championships Highlights scheduled for 6.00 on Wednesday and October 23 are being replaced by double-ep re-runs of Prawn Stars.

On Monday’s Fair Go (TVNZ 1, 7.30): A $49,000 power bill before even flicking the switch — how’s that for an electric shock? And one couple learns how getting freebies can come at a cost.
