Shortland Street Scrubs Up

Shortland Street’s top-rating run continued Tuesday, when it out-rated both Seven Sharp and The Project in the coveted 25-54 demographic.

The TVNZ 2 serial averaged 98,069 adults vs 91,275 for SS and 57,080 for Project.

It averaged a 4.78 rating/26/37 share and set up lead-out MasterChef Australia to win the 7.30 hour with a 4.10 rating/24.05 share or 84,191 viewers aged 25-54.

TVNZ 1’s season premiere of Your Home Made Perfect averaged a 3.21 rating/20.32 share (65,800) and Three’s Million Dollar Island a 2.28 rating/15.15 share (46,717).

It was another disastrous night for Three’s Accused, which averaged a 0.67 rating/8.26 share (15,646).

The premium drama’s fortunes weren’t helped by starting half-an-hour after TVNZ 2’s NSCI: Hawai’i (2.18 rating/17.53 share, 44,773) and nearly a quarter-hour after TVNZ 1’s low-rating Huge Homes With Hugh Dennis (1.70 rating/15.92 share, 34,861).

TVNZ 2 also carried the 9.30 hour, with Phrogging: Hider in My House averaging a 0.97 rating/13.72 share and 19,910 viewers.

But lead-out Walking Dead: Dead City failed to crack the night’s top-20 shows in the core commercial demo, and neither did TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street half-an-hour earlier.

The night’s most-watched 25-54 programmes were: 1 NewsThe Chase (5.30), Shortland StreetSeven SharpMasterChef AustraliaNewshub Live at 6pm, Your Home Made Perfect, Home and AwayThe Project and Million Dollar Island.

The channel shares were: TVNZ 1, 30.29; TVNZ 2, 19.55; Three, 15.97; Duke, 6.64;  Bravo, 4.98;  Rush, 2.72; Eden, 2.31; Prime, 1.62; HGTV, 0.69.

If these disastrous ratings continued for Accused, then Three will have to pull the series off prime-time into late-night burn off.
