Sky Open to Salute ANZAC Day

Sky Open will simulcast Whakaata Māori’s 2024 ANZAC Day Dawn Service live coverage from 5.40am-8am on April 25.

It will be transmitted from the C Company Māori Battalion Memorial House in Gisborne / Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum

Veteran broadcaster Julian Wilcox (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa) will be joined in Gisborne by military historian Dr Monty Soutar (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Porou).

Peata Melbourne (Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu) will be host on Te Ao Mārama at the Dawn Service in Auckland.

The theme of this year’s broadcast is from the words of Sir Apirana Ngata in his 1943 treatise on Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu VC, ‘The Price of Citizenship’: “We are of one house, and if our Pākehā brothers fall, we fall with them.”

The live coverage will replace the following titles previously scheduled in this slot for Sky Open Week 17:Infomercials, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Hey Arnold!, and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien.
