Sneak Peek: TVNZ 2 October to January
The latest Chuck Lorre sitcom, B-Positive, starring Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch, will be a key anchor for a new Tuesday night comedy block on TVNZ 2.
The show was among the October-January highlights the broadcaster has promoted to media buyers.
It stars Middleditch as a newly divorced therapist who falls in love with a rough and ready woman from his past (Masters of Sex’s Annaleigh Ashford) when she donates him her kidney.
CBS has yet to confirm when B-Positive, its only new fall comedy, will premiere.
But expect TVNZ 2 to launch it close to its US broadcast, as the 8.30 building block in a line-up that will include Young Sheldon and Mom.
The network promoted Bob (Hearts) Abishola as B-Positive’s 9.00 lead-out but that’s now been usurped by that show’s consignment to Sunday afternoons.
Other TVNZ 2 highlights will include Dog Almighty, a 7.30 Monday-Tuesday strip in which Jono and Ben search for NZ’s most talented pooch, and Taskmaster NZ (8.30 Wednesdays), in which Jeremy Wells and Paul Williams set five Kiwi comedians bizarre and ingenious tasks.
Returning will be Motorway Patrol, Renters, Would I Lie to You?, Survivor Australia, The Farmer Wants a Wife and Best Foods Christmas Comedy Gala while lined up for Christmas are the Home Alone and Die Hard franchises, Four Holidays, Bad Moms 2, Office Christmas Party and Elf.
