SoHo’s First Night Unveiled
The first two episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones are the star attraction of SoHo’s opening night.
Sky’s new premium HD drama channel will launch 3pm on October 31, and will be free for all subscribers to sample from then until November 30 (thereafter, it will cost $10 a month).
The channel fittingly will open with the NZ TV’s HD ‘premiere’ of The Sopranos, the drama that helped to turn HBO into a US TV juggernaut.
Season one of The Sopranos has been released here on Blu-ray but this will be its first airing in 1080i (and the first time it’s been seen in 16:9).
You’ll also be able to see in HD other HBO series that hitherto have aired here only in SD on free-to-air TV.
After a Game of Thrones preview at 4pm, SoHo will screen the first episodes of Six Feet Under (5pm) and Entourage (6pm).
These will sandwich a second Thrones preview, How to Make It in America will premiere at 6.30pm, and the first NZ TV HD screening of True Blood will follow at 7pm.
An 8pm behind-the-scenes look at Thrones will precede the epic fantasy’s double-episode premiere.
