Sony Brightens Up PS3 On Eve of Possible PS4 Reveal

The same day Sony’s expected to unveil its PlayStation 4 strategy in the US, the PS3 will be offered here in two new colours: Azurite Blue and Garnet Red.

The consoles will go on sale for $519 on February 21, which is when Sony has invited journalists to an evening press event in New York City.

According to reports, “A new video posted on PlayStation’s blog may be a giant hint as to when the next console will be announced.

“The teaser video, features the handset buttons we all know and love floating around the screen, followed by an invitation to a Sony event dated 20th of February.

“Rumours of the new console have been making the rounds for some time and this video seems only to confirm earlier suspicions that we would be getting a new PlayStation during the first half of this year.”

Sony has declined to say whether it will actually release a new product at the event.

“We will be talking about the PlayStation business,” a spokesman told the Reuters news agency.

But if it is an announcement for the PlayStation 4, “it makes sense to do it now.

“E3, one of the world’s big three video games industry trade shows, is in June, but other major players in the multi-billion-dollar video games industry will be there, all wanting a slice of the attention, clamouring for the attention of the world’s gaming press so a pre-E3 announcement will give Sony the limelight.”
