Sony to Beef Up UHD Heavyweights
Sony has yet to confirm when its expanded range of Ultra HD TVs will go on sale in NZ.
But it has announced there will be two models in its new BRAVIA X8500A series.
The 55- and 65-inch screens will have the same display technologies as the X9000 series but with Active 3D technology.
Sony claims its 4K X-Reality Pro picture engine ensures that all content, regardless of its source, is optimised for ultra-high definition viewing and will upscale 2K content to near native 4K resolution.
The new models as well as the the 65-inch and 55-inch X9000A series will support HDMI Specification Version 2.0 to accommodate 4K/60p content via an internet firmware upgrade from the end of this year.
Sony says upgrading the 84-inch X9000 to the latest HDMI Specifications Version 2.0 will require service assistance.
The X8500A series will include an integrated bass reflex box speaker with tweeter and “assist woofer”.
