Summer Bay’s Summer Break Ends Early
Soap fans can look forward to Shortland Street and Home and Away returning to TVNZ 2 on the same day.
Shortland Street was always scheduled for a new-season premiere on January 23 but not its Aussie stablemate.
However, the network today announced it was “coming back early” and would pre-empt the Kath & Kim re-runs from next Monday at 6.30.
The Summer Bay serial will open with Felicity and Tane’s wedding day ending in disaster, Justin having blood on his hands and Cash seemingly losing his chance to be with Eden.
The Kath and Kim strip will end Friday, three episodes shy of the third season’s completion.
The rescheduling also means the 10.25 weekday re-runs of Will & Grace will be dropped for next-day repeats of Home and Away.
However, it looks like TVNZ 2 will continue with Pictionary as Home and Away’s 6.00 lead-in rather than resume re-runs of The Big Bang Theory.

I believe it came back earlier than it usually has in Australia. Sounds like it caught TVNZ on the hop a bit.
