Sunday Chefs Out of Flavour

Episode two of The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes went well off the boil compared to the season premiere but TVNZ 1 still dominated Sunday’s 25-54 ratings.

It mustered 45,617 viewers in the core commercial demographic to average a 2.22 rating/14.93 share — half as many viewers as the previous week.

Three’s movie Jack Reacher: Never Go Back drew 10,000 more viewers to average a 2.68 rating/17.99 share on the back of Lego Masters (66,947 viewers) beating TVNZ 2’s MasterChef Australia (52,984).

But both lost to TVNZ 1’s Sunday, which clocked up 99,104 viewers (4.83 rating/24.83 share) thanks to a bumper lead-in from Hyundai Country Calendar: 162,894 (7.94 rating/35.91 share).

TVNZ 2’s movie About a Boy averaged just 31,618 viewers (1.54 rating/12.70 share) — nearly 2,800 fewer than the 4.25 re-run of Madagascar.

TVNZ 1’s 9.30 crime drama Redemption plummeted week-on-week, to average a 0.45 rating/4.39 share or 9,267 viewers, which was 1,000 fewer than the network’s afternoon broadcast of Susan Colman’s Grand Day Out.

The night’s most-watched programmes in the 25-54 demo were: 1 News, Hyundai Country Calendar, The Chase (5.30), Sunday, Newshub Live at 6pm, The Chase (5.00), Lego Masters, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, MasterChef Australia  and The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes.

Philip, I think TVNZ 1 having a ratings decline in post 8.30, as I found The Restaurant that Makes Mistakes a bit silly and TVNZ 1 would need a revamped line up that I wished to bring back Sunday Theatre. I think that TVNZ 2 would steal some TVNZ 1 programmes and put in Thursday slot since Police Ten 7 axed from Thursday slot. I reckon that Police Rescue Australia would be a good fit on TVNZ 2 Thursdays.
