The Hobbit Nails March 19 for Blu-ray Bow
Warner Bros in the US today announced two Blu-ray editions of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey would go on sale in the US on March 19 and tipped an extended cut was in the works.
A NZ date has still to be confirmed for the theatrical Blu-ray but given the global roll-out of the movie, expect it to be within a day or two of the US.
In the US, a digital download of the movie will be possible a week ahead of it landing on disc.
Both Blu-ray editions will have DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround tracks and these extras:

As my wife broke her ankle two weeks ago it looks like we are not going to get to see this. I may have to buy this Blu-ray version if we don’t get raped and pillaged by the price. If we do it will be the local rental shop.

As they did with The Lord of the Rings movies, an extended version of this movie is expected to be released on Blu-ray later this year. I will probably wait for the extended version to come out.
