The Pacific Rides Hollywood Reporter Rave

The first published review of The Pacific calls it “as sensitive and realistic portrait of American combat in the Pacific as you ever will see”.

The hotly anticipated follow-up to Band of Brothers will screen in HD on TV One from April 5.

The Hollywood Reporter today acclaimed the Tom Hanks-Steven Spielberg collaboration as “a gem of a production”, with “praiseworthy performances” and “outstanding and convincing” special effects, that will see it “dominate every Emmy category for which it is eligible”.

James Hibberd’s blog for the trade paper, The Live Feed, cites misgivings about the first two episodes and while he hails the ninth as a “masterpiece”, he warns  Band of Brothers fans “to set your expectations accordingly”.

The Pacific premieres in the US on March 14.
