The Tills Are Alive With Blu-ray Box Sets
Blu-ray box sets of a few of your favourite things will abound in November.
In addition to the previously reported collector’s editions of Avatar and the Alien Anthology, you’ll be able to buy a lavish, triple-disc 45th anniversary edition of The Sound of Music from November 3.
Extras will include: Your Favourite Things: An Interactive Celebration (behind-the-scenes images, on-screen lyrics, trivia track and a location quiz); Music Machine Sing-Along; Musical Stages: Creating The Sound of Music (a “backlot tour” with in-depth shorts on the songs, the stage show and movie, the film and sound restoration, and the real-life von Trapp family); A City of Song (virtual map of filming locations in Salzburg, Austria); vintage Rodgers & Hammerstein and The Sound of Music programmes, including a parody with Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews, an interview with the real Maria von Trapp on The Julie Andrews Hour, and Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Sound of American Music, hosted by Mary Martin; and screen tests, rare treasures, interviews and photo galleries.
There also will be two Mr Bean collections, Ultimate Bean Collection: 20 Years of Mr Bean and Bean’s Brilliant Box Set (November 24), and triple packs of The Man With No Name (November 3), Predator (November 10) and Robocop (November 3) trilogies.
Other November highlights include the musicals Moulin Rouge and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (November 3), a special edition of The African Queen (November 4) and a slew of more recent back catalogue releases: Kalifornia, 28 Days Later, Marked for Death, Man in the Iron Mask, Robots, Runaway Jury, Romeo + Juliet (November 3); and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Shallow Grave and Bad Boy Bubby (November 24).
