The Zone Scores With HD Classics
Sky’s new cult channel The Zone will screen not only series premieres like Helix, The Strain and Defiance in HD but also library classics like Star Trek, Space 1999, Quantum Leap and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
The only series that won’t be in HD when the channel launches 4pm on November 3 are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, which are being remastered in HD, and early seasons of Stargate: SG1.
Most of the retro programming, some of which is being lifted from Jones!, will be at the weekends, although Buffy, Stargate and Star Trek: The Next Generation will be stripped weeknights.
Meanwhile, lined up for The Zone’s first month of Cinema Z shockers in the channel’s 9.30 Saturday schlocky movie slot are: Mega Python vs Gatoroid, Atlantic Rim, Battledogs and Bermuda Tentacles.

It’s going to be SO out of this world when The Zone begins 🙂
Maybe I should subscribe to Sky again but not prepared to pay something like $75 / month for the basic package and a MySky with the HD package.
I am really impressed with the number of excellent shows that The Zone will be screening, with nearly all of them in HD. I better clear some recorded programmes from My Sky fairly quickly to make room for some of these new shows!
Star Trek: The Next Generation looks AMAZING in HD, I have got seasons 1-6 on Blu-ray 🙂
I haven’t seen any of the Star Trek Next Generation series. I may start watching them on the Zone. I have the original three seasons of Star Trek (William Shatner versions) on Blu-ray and they look and sound really good.
OK if you are a Sky subscriber but not a compelling reason to sign up just for this channel.
Yay the Zone starts today.
I currently have 6 shows series linked to record each week. I will watch at least 3 episodes of each of these series before deciding if I will continue to watch the whole series (very likely).
