ThreeNow Nails House of Hammer
The Discovery+ documentary about the “dark and disturbing secrets” of Armie Hammer’s family was this weekend added to the ThreeNow streaming platform.
“This documentary investigates the sexual misconduct allegations against the Hollywood star – then delves into his family who are said to be ‘a million times’ worse than Succession,” said The Guardian.
It highly recommended the three-part series for its depiction of “a battle for the ages: the corrosive influence of old money versus the untameable power of new media” while Decider thought it “a fascinating, truth-is-stranger-than-fiction look at the way absolute power corrupts absolutely, and the way it can hurt people when no one calls it out for decades.”
Hammer hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when accusations of of abuse, coercion and even rape sparked a police investigation into his behaviour (one of his ex-girlfriends alleged he had texted “I am 100% a cannibal” and “I want to eat you”).
“If you’ve been on social media for the past year-and-a-half, House of Hammer repeats much of what you may have already seen,” says Variety.
“But the docuseries exposes more of the messages (which Hammer has never verified), while also digging deep into Hammer’s troubled family history. (He is the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer.)”
