Thunderbirds and Dragons Are Go
The latest key art has been released for Game of Thrones’s fifth season and Thunderbirds Are Go, both of which go to air here in April.
“Many New Zealanders will remember the original Thunderbirds series,” TV2 network programmer Jeanneane McKay says. “It is already generating much excitement both at home and abroad.
“We can’t wait to launch it on TV2, so closely behind its international debut.”
The 13-part Weta Workshop reboot goes to air in the UK on April 15. A co-production between ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures, it combines CGI animation and live-action miniature sets with a cast that includes Oscar-nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) as Lady Penelope and the original series David Graham as her chauffeur Parker.
The Guardian reports one episode will feature Sylvia Anderson, who voiced Lady Penelope in the original series, voicing an entirely new character.
Screening within hours of its US launch will be GoT, which SoHo will premiere 8.30 on April 13.
Deadline reports the latest art reflects the fifth season’s storyline, with Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister escaping across the Narrow Seas. “And, of course, there are dragons on the horizon, literally and figuratively.”
