Tonight in HD: December 13
SoHo Highlight: Boardwalk Empire (Sky 10, 9.30, 5.1) Jimmy faces a decision with long-term consequences; Margaret (above) has a family reunion; Nelson defers to a new prosecutor; Owen settles a score. Episode seven is a “humdinger“, the AV Club reckons, largely because it “provided an overdue showcase for Kelly Macdonald [Margaret] … In the first half of this season, she’s often faded into the background of the struggle between Nucky and Jimmy and the Commodore,” Time said. “She came roaring back in Peg of Old, traveling to Brooklyn for a reunion/confrontation with her family — in particular, with her brother Eamoinn (Tony Curran), each of them feeling wronged by the other.” Agreed Rolling Stone: “Boardwalk Empire is back on its game after a couple of weeks of disappointing episodes … The window to Margaret’s past was thrust open in this episode and that we can at least begin to understand why she’s such an enigmatic character.” ✭✭✭✭
Friends (TV2, 6.30, R) Back to the beginning (again): Rachel runs from her wedding and bumps into her old friend Monica in a Manhattan coffee shop. ✭✭✭
Shortland Street (TV2, 7.00) Luke takes a stand for love; Daniel struggles with all work and no play; Brooke battles familiar feelings. Will Chris give into temptation? ✭✭✭
The Celebrity Apprentice (TV2, 8.30) Outside the boardroom, the men and women debate who will survive and the back-stabbing begins. ✭✭
Fringe (TV2, 2.35, R) Re-run of season two, from episode one. ✭✭✭✭
