SoHo Highlight: Dexter (Sky 10, 8.30, 5.1) To catch the Doomsday Killers, Dexter must follow in their footsteps and create a macabre tableau of his own; Debra’s battle with LaGuerta over the case of the dead call girl boils over. The AV Club labelled season seven’s penultimate episode “the lowest point of a terrible season. I don’t even think that Talk to the Hand was the worst individual episode of the season, but it’s nearly impossible to judge the penultimate episode of a serialised television season on its own merits. At this point, all the errors the writers have made this season are coming to bear and there’s nowhere else to hide. Worse still, the mistakes are still happening.” And while IGN thought it “a better Dexter episode than the past couple that we’ve gotten, it was still littered with a few dumb moments and an icky sub-plot”. However, it should be worth a look just to see Dexter go “all Jack Bauer“. ✭✭✭

Friends (TV2, 6.30, R) Rachel waits patiently at the airport for Ross, not knowing he is returning with a new girlfriend; Phoebe gives Monica the haircut from hell. ✭✭✭✭

Shortland Street (TV2, 7.00) Daniel attempts to get back on track; Sarah is offered unexpected support; Hunter is unable to escape reality. ✭✭✭

Movie: Land of the Lost (TV3, 7.30, 5.1) One of the kinder reviews for this largely lambasted Will Ferrell comedy-adventure spun off the cheesy ’60s time-travel show came from the US TV Guide: “If director Brad Silberling had taken this cast to their natural extremes, he might have delivered a raucously funny sci-fi comedy — think Anchorman meets Jurassic Park. Instead, Land of the Lost is an utter misfire — not bad enough to hate, not good enough to remember.” ✭✭

Fringe (TV2, 2.45, R) When a kidnapping rapidly escalates into a hostage situation in New York, local authorities close in on the suspects only to discover a mysterious force with mind-blowing consequences. ✭✭✭✭
