Season Highlight: Breakout Kings (TV3, 9.30, 5.1) The jury’s still out on whether this lighthearted crime drama will go the full term. But episode three’s a must-see for Prison Break fans as it guest stars Robert Knepper in a reprisal of his T-Bag role. The murderous sociopath again has escaped and this time is out to avenge his mother. It’s a great casting stunt and apparently made T-Bag “the first character to cross over to a show on a completely different network”. Knepper told TV Line: “Nick Santora – one of my favourite writers on Prison Break – wrote me an email right before we started shooting, saying, ‘You know what? I think this might be the best dialogue I’ve ever written for T-Bag.’ And I’m here to tell you it was. It was all the familiar things you love to hate about T-Bag – the danger, the humour – but it was interesting to highlight him in this episode by saying, ‘Let’s try to get in his head a bit. Let’s figure out why he’s doing this.’ And the pathos and emotion that comes out is just … I could not have just jumped into this thing if I hadn’t had four years of basically getting ready for it.” Agreed TV Fanatic: “The expectations were high for this episode and Breakout Kings hit it out of the park. I only hope it can continue to do so with its own original characters in the future.” ✮✮✮✮

Sky Movies Premiere: Casino Jack (Sky 20, 8.30, 5.1) George Hickenlooper, who made Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalpse, directed this loose, true-life dramatisation of top Washington persuader who overreaches himself with the Mob. Said The Hollywood Reporter: “Slick superlobbyist Jack Abramoff is the colourful subject of Casino Jack, a similarly slick and undeniably entertaining true-life DC crime story, boasting a robust Kevin Spacey performance.” But The Washington Post thought the movie suffered from being “halfway between poker-face documentary and broad farce”. Home & Away (TV3, 5.30) Colleen questions whether she wants to leave Summer Bay after all; Jett pockets a lot of cash; Sasha seeks counselling. ✮✮

Friends (TV2, 6.30, R) Joey and Chandler plan a road trip to Las Vegas, where Joey has landed the lead role in a movie, but the two argue and Joey goes on alone. ✮✮✮

Shortland Street (TV2, 7.00) Rachel fights for control; letting go proves a struggle for Maxwell; Daniel turns to a life of crime. ✮✮✮

Two and a Half Men (TV2, 7.30, 5.1) Walden’s former business partner shows up looking to patch the rift between them. ✮✮

Road Cops (TV3, 7.30) Officers are called to deal with boy-racers; a dodgy looking vehicle comes under police scrutiny; Acting Sergeant Tony Sharp is called out to a burglary in progress. ✮✮

2 Broke Girls (TV2, 8.00, 5.1) Max joins Caroline on a trip to visit her father in prison. ✮✮

The GC (TV3, 8.00) DJ Tuini considers returning to NZ; tension mounts as Zane tries to mend matters with Rosie; Jessi’s thinks Jade is flirting with other women; Cole reveals he wants to get back in the ring. ✮✮

The Big Bang Theory (TV2, 8.30, 5.1) A change in Sheldon’s routine forces him to re-evaluate his entire life when his barber is sick; Howard rethinks his decision to go into space after astronaut training. ✮✮✮✮

Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms (TV3, 8.30) Now a fully-fledged member, Snoddy does his best to calm bristling egos when Caesar Campbell and his brothers threaten to become a club within a club. “With its themes of power, leadership and loyalty clearly established, the first episode made you want to see more,” The Age said. “But the continuation of the story that leads to 1984’s notorious shooting is less satisfying as the drama restates its themes with monotonous regularity. The action amounts to a gang of men swaggering around, thumping their chests, spoiling for a fight, drinking, riding and having sex.” Agreed Change the Channel: “While the first episode was a passably entertaining if not terribly fulfilling hour of television, this second episode was a bland trudge through nothingness.” ✮✮✮

Happy Endings (TV2, 9.00, 5.1) Dave’s new liquor license brings in lots of new business to the truck but his friends are avoiding him. He thinks they’re jealous of his success but it’s really all about the effects of his new signature drink. ✮✮

Nikita (TV2, 10.30, 5.1) Nikita and Michael investigate an old, corrupt Division programme called “P9” that appears to have resurfaced. ✮✮
