Tonight in HD: November 16

Soho Highlight: Weeds (Sky 10, 9.30, 5.1) Blog critics reckon episode five, Boomerang, “officially ended the slow slump the show has been in while the family was hiding from Esteban” and, some weak character moments notwithstanding, had “by far the most plot momentum of any episode this season”. It also boasts a startling, unsettling encounter between Nancy and brother-in-law Andy that provides “glaring reminders of Nancy’s darker side, alongside a whirlwind of a story that saw a confluence of problems crash down on the Botwins’ new home at the worst possible time”. It’s followed by episode six, A Shoe for a Shoe, that the same reviewer said “suffered from a number of awkward missteps” and was the season’s weakest to date. ✭✭✭✭

Underbelly: Razor (TV3, 8.30) Kate Leigh puts a bounty on the heads of Big Jim Devine and Frank Green as payback for the murder of Greg Gaffney and the razor attack on Bruce Higgs. Said The Age: “It’s good to see the main players finally reveal themselves as the psychotic murderers they were and not just quaint rogues. Danielle Cormack is in particularly fine form as Leigh, spitting curses and calling for heads like the mad queen she was.” ✫✫✫✫

The Borgias (TV3, 9.30, 5.1) The French army marches into Italy and, with its vastly superior artillery, besieges and ransacks the town of Lucca. TV Fanatic reckons this was “definitely the best episode since the two-part series premiere. Bringing the war aspects to the forefront was an intelligent move in keeping things interesting at this point in the season.” ✫✫✫✫

V (TV2, 10.40) After a radical faction of the Fifth Column murders three peace ambassadors, Erica goes on a mission to hunt down their leader, Eli Cohn. ✫✫✫
