Top Under the Radar US Cable Drama Series Renewed

Today it was announced there would be further seasons of three of the best HD dramas series many people have never seen: The Americans, House of Lies and Bloodline.

“Remarkably, this season of The Americans has achieved even greater acclaim than that of its first two seasons,” FX original programming president Nick Grad said of the current run on SoHo.

“The series has cemented it status with critics as television’s best current drama and arguably the best show on TV, and we couldn’t agree more.”

Showtime has ordered a fifth season of House of Lies, which airs free-to-air in SD on TV4 and can be streamed on Lightbox.

The renewal, which Showtime network president David Nevins alluded to at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in January, is for 10 half-hour episodes — down two from the show’s standard 12-episode runs,” The Hollywood Reporter says.

“It’s unclear if season five of the comedy will be its last.”

Showtime’s also renewed late-night TV2 staple Shameless and is expected to give the thumbs-up to a fifth season of Episodes.

Netflix, meanwhile, has renewed Bloodline, which can be seen on its NZ service, within days of releasing the first season online.

“The series, created by Todd A Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler (Damages), will go back into production later this year for a 2016 release in all Netflix territories,” Deadline reports.
