Toronto Film Festival Premiere Soon to Stream

A movie that’s been officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival will stream on Prime Video soon after its September 9 world premiere.

Pimpinero: Blood and Oil is set in the desert bordering Colombia and Venezuela, where gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel from one country to another. Reads the blurb:

When Juan – the youngest in a clan of three brothers entangled in this perilous trade – is forced to work for a sinister rival, the underbelly of the business is laid bare with tragic consequences. Determined to uncover the gruesome secrets that shroud this no-man’s-land, Juan’s girlfriend Diana embarks on a quest for the truth.

It marks the big-screen return of writer-director Andrés Baiz (Griselda, Narcos, The Hidden Face) and stars Grammy-winner Juanes in his film acting debut alongside Alberto Guerra, Alejandro Speitzer and Laura Osma.

“Pimpinero: Blood and Oil is about geographical borders, but above all about ethical, moral, emotional and human borders,” Baiz says.

“The result is an exciting film, full of beauty, truth and a lot of adrenaline. I can’t wait to share it with the public.”

Pimpinero: Blood and Oil adds to Prime Video’s growing selection of non-English language Originals, including recent international hits My Fault, Maxton Hall – The World Between Us and Red Queen as well as upcoming titles Your Fault, Freedom and Like a Dragon: Yakuza.
