Tracked Treks to Max

There’s still no sign of HBO or Max shows landing on ThreeNow, which has just been upgraded, but Tracked has become the first Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ original format to land on Max.

Here’s the media release:

11 August 2023 – Tracked, a Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ original format, produced by Great Southern Television, will be New Zealand’s first local show to premiere on Max, streaming in the US on 25 August 2023.

Hosted by Hollywood hardman Vinnie Jones, Tracked is the ultimate high-intensity game of hide and seek through New Zealand’s harsh and breathtaking landscape, following eight international teams competing to reach the evacuation zone and helicopter out before they are caught by an elite team of military trackers, with the winning team securing the $100,000 jackpot.

The show was made with the support of the government backed New Zealand Screen Production Rebate and gained worldwide attention within the Warner Bros. Discovery network, airing in 16 territories around the world. The show launched in New Zealand in 2023 and is available to stream free now on ThreeNow.

Vicki Keogh, Senior Director Production, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ says: “Tracked is a fantastic success story for the New Zealand production community having already secured distribution across 16 Warner Bros. Discovery territories. Max picking it up is a further endorsement of this incredible format and the talented team at Great Southern Television. We are always looking for opportunities to support local content and share our fantastic shows on the world stage – to say we are delighted is an understatement.”

Philip Smith, CEO, Great Southern Television says: “Driven by the incomparable Vinnie Jones and with a cast of tough, determined contestants, we are really excited that the series will have a home in the US on Max alongside Discovery+. It’s a major achievement for this tense and original competitive format and we are thrilled it has been travelling the world with our partners at Warner Bros. Discovery.”

Annie Murray, CEO New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) says: “The NZFC is delighted by the success of Tracked and proud to have supported the project through the New Zealand Screen Production Grant (NZSPG).  The NZSPG is an important government incentive that creates jobs and builds sustainability in the local film and television industry and supports the development of New Zealand screen sector key creatives.”

I noticed ThreeNow got an update but it’s one of those behind the scenes ones, darn it. I do wonder if they may include more channels for their FAST channels 🤔

  2. Ouch those Disney+ and Hulu price hikes are big. How does one justify lifting things by 27% unless it was always sub-economic pricing to start with.

  3. I wonder, once Disney owns Hulu outright I wonder if we will see Hulu in New Zealand. I know they are planning to merge Hulu with Disney+ in the US but why not merge Disney+ with Hulu 🤔
