Travel Guides Travels Well

It seemed an unlikely challenger but TVNZ 2’s decision to re-run Travel Guides Australia 7.30 Monday-Wednesday is paying off in the ratings.

Viewership varies but some nights it has out-rated Three’s hitherto unbeatable Married at First Sight Australia in the core commercial demographics — although this is contingent on a strong lead-in from the equally variable Shortland Street.

Monday was one such night, when Travel Guides averaged 87,538 viewers in the 25-54 demo (28.5 share) and 73,462 in the 18-49 demo (27.5).

It topped MAFS in both demos, drawing about 9000 more 18-49 year-olds and 18,000 more 25-54s, and finished well ahead of TVNZ 1’s third-placed Fair Go and Highway Cops.

But TVNZ 2 shed viewers from 8.30, when Fire Country averaged an 11.5 share of 25-54s (26,900) and 10.9 share of 18-49s (23,491).

It trailed TVNZ 1’s Code 1: Minute by Minute, which posted a 19.6 share of 25-54s (45,968) and a 21.2 share of 18-49s (45,459).

Code 1 also was more popular in the key demos than the first half of Three’s The Rookie but the latter easily out-rated TVNZ 2’s So Help Me Todd.

Earlier, Shortland Street finished behind TVNZ 1’s Seven Sharp in both demos, but ahead of Three’s The Project, while Prime’s 8.30 movie Dawn of the Dead averaged a 25-54 share of 2.2.
