TV New to Neon in August

New BBC thriller The Rapture will stream on Neon from August 10 — the same day it premieres on BBC First.

The five-part psychological thriller is billed as “a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger”. Reads the blurb:

Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio – Queen Charlotte, The Midwich Cuckoos).

Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine – The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, Slow Horses), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religious movement.

Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future – but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did?

August on Neon also is notable for Channel 4 docuseries Free Nelson Mandela (August 29), Kiwi body diversity docuseries Cutting the Curve (August 15), Louis Theroux’s follow-up to his 2010 documentary on Israeli settlers in the West Bank, and a “box sets bonanza” that includes all nine seasons of Inspector Morse spin-off Endeavour (A9gust 19).
