TV2’s 666 is Deep-Sixed
Only days after TV2 promoted them in its new-season line-up, Partners and 666 Park Avenue have been cancelled.
Partners was from the creators of $#*! My Dad Says, which also was canned after only one season.
Its axing didn’t stop the William Shatner comedy from becoming one of TV2’s most popular shows last year but Partners’ primetime prospects seem dim given it’s only been on air for seven weeks in the US.
666 Park Avenue has gone belly-up within the same time frame.
But at least the supernatural drama will complete a 13-week run and there’s the possibility it may return next season.
Better news for TVNZ has been TV One’s Nashville and TV2’s The Neighbours earning full-season orders.
The Last Resort is another early casualty of the US TV season, although, like 666 Park Avenue, it, too, may resurface.
About a renegade submarine crew who take refuge on a small island, the Shawn (The Unit, The Shield) Ryan drama has yet to be picked up for broadcast here.
The season’s other cancellations are legal drama Made in Jersey and the veterinarian comedy Animal Practice, starring Weeds’ Justin Kirk, which probably will wind up on Four through MediaWorks’ output deal with NBC-Universal.
Also ending their seasons are 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Fringe, Gossip Girl, Jersey Shore, The Office and Spartacus.
