TVNZ 1 Strikes With Starstruck
Viewers were more starstruck than ever on Thursday when TVNZ 1’s variety show of the same name improved its 25-54 ratings week-on-week.
Starstruck UK averaged 4.07% of the network’s crucial advertising demographic vs 3.29% the previous Thursday.
Its share of 25-54s increased from 20.30 (67,429 viewers) to 27.78 (83,595 viewers).
Interest in the variety show will be peaking as the final looms but the biggest factor appears to be MasterChef Australia succeeding a re-run of Travel Guides Australia.
The latter averaged a 4.93 rating/30.01 share the previous week, when it was TVNZ 2’s highest-rating 25-54 show of the night (and the fourth-most watched of all free-to-air programmes in this demo).
But MasterChef could muster only a 2.74 rating/17.55 share — or 56,194 viewers.
Three’s 7 Days also shed viewers, averaging a 2.93 rating/17.10 share vs a 3.28 rating/21.26 share Thursday prior. This represented a loss of 7,293 adults.
Lead-out The Great Comedy Debate struggled, with a 1.69 rating/11.14 share to finish behind TVNZ 1’s Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job (1.91 rating/16.92 share) and TVNZ 2’s Australian Survivor (1.86 rating/17.06 share).
Survivor overlapped TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street (1.03 rating/12.04 share) and Three’s repeat of The Graham Norton Show (0.86 rating/10.23 share).
The night’s highest-rating 25-54 show was 1 News at 6pm (9.55 rating/53.88 share), which was well ahead of the next most popular drawcard, The Chase (5.95 rating/55.20 share).
Rounding out the top five were Seven Sharp, Newshub Live at 6pm and Starstruck.
