TVNZ 2 Disbands Friday Night Gig
Boy Band has gone from being #1 with a bullet to getting the bullet.
With ratings heading in the wrong direction after only two weeks for the One Direction wannabes, TVNZ 2 is pulling the talent quest series from primetime.
Its last 9pm broadcast will be on Friday; from July 22, it will air 10.30am Saturdays.
The show is struggling in the US as well, with the premiere “failing to make a significant impact” and the second episode losing more than a quarter of its crucial 18-49 viewership.
As part of bumping Boy Band, TVNZ 2 will shift The Voice Australia from 7.30 to 9.00, and replace it with re-runs of The Middle and the return of Take Me Out to try to improve its Friday night fortunes.
Meanwhile, the network today announced auditions were open for another series of First Dates NZ, at tvnz.co.nz/FirstDatesNZ, and revealed First Dates Australia will soon be back on screen.

HA and they think X Factor will be popular on TVNZ 🙂
You can’t compare the two, Trevor. X Factor is a proven format, whilst Boy Band is a watch and see if it works type of show. Sad to see it go from primetime, at least it was given a shot.
