TVNZ+ Adds S4 of The Bay

TVNZ+ will stream season four of British seaside police drama The Bay from March 9, the same day it goes to air on ITV.

Marsha Thomason, who succeeded Morven Christie in S3, returns as Morecambe CID’s Family Liaison Officer, DS Jenn Townsend, to investigate the death of a young mother-of-four in what seems to be a targeted attack.

Numb from shock and completely unprepared to be sole carer to his four children, her bereft husband struggles at every turn to process what’s happened.

As Jenn and the team dig deeper into the case, they discover secrets and lies lurking beneath every surface.

Says executive producer Catherine Oldfield of S4: “We knew we wanted to tell a story of a blue-collar family to take us into the working heart of Morecambe.

“We were also very aware we’d done a number of stories about grieving women so we wanted to tell a story of male grief; about a man who loses his wife.

“That was our starting point. Lots of shows haven’t covered that and we thought it would be interesting to look at a working-class man whose whole life gets turned upside down as a result of a tragic incident.”

Also expect to see more of the police officers’ lives away from the station in this season, including Jenn struggling with raising her own kids and the troublesome reappearance of Chris’ ex-wife.
