TVNZ Streams Ahead Year-on-Year

TVNZ’s OnDemand streams are rocketing ahead, with average weekly streams up 78% year-on-year.

Shortland Street, Friends, The  Big Bang Theory (which is now on Netflix NZ, including the first three seasons in HD — TVOD’s are SD), Home and Away and Coronation Street are the most “binge watched” shows — and also the most streamed.

It turns out women stream more than men, and the two might as well be from Venus and Mars re the top five shows according to gender.

The same was true of North Island-South Island streaming trends. (Auckland was the highest streaming region, followed by Northland, Canterbury, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington.)

A number of series that tanked in primetime fared much better on-demand, including Manifest, Mrs Wilson and Killing Eve.

Most viewers streamed on a TV, closely followed by mobile apps; desktop and laptop streaming was a distant third.
