Under the Dome Blu-ray Bound

Prime scored top ratings for its SD premiere of Under the Dome on Wednesday.

But even better news for fans of the Stephen King adaptation is its scheduled release on Blu-ray.

It goes on sale in the US and Australia, where the series started nearly three months ago, in early November and should bow here in December.

If the sci-fi drama can maintain the popularity of its premiere, it will lift Prime’s viewership significantly and lead to broader sampling of its programming, which may encourage Sky to upgrade the channel to HD.

Wednesday’s launch averaged 4.7% – 7.1% of the key demographics, which is exceptionally high for Prime, and viewership built over the hour.

It was most popular with adults 25-54, earning an 18% share of Prime’s target audience, but also averaged an adults 18-49 rating of 6.3%.

As a result, it out-rated TV One’s One Born Every Minute and TV3’s 3rd Degree in both of these demos.

Another series languishing in SD on Sky’s The Box channel may also resurface on Blu-ray here.

Da Vinci’s Demons already is out on Blu-ray in the US and is pending in the UK.

Wow! Still can’t believe it out-rated both One and 3 in their target demo! Still it would have been better in HD. The waiting continues!

  2. Apart from the dome arriving there is very little sci-fi about it. More like another soap. In fact, it gets rather boring after ep 5.

  3. You made it to ep5? I couldn’t get past ep3.
