Victoria a Right Royal Hit Online
Victoria ended its run on Sunday with low overnight ratings but as one of the jewels in TVNZ OnDemand’s crown.
The series, which also was released this week on DVD but not Blu-ray (as it was in Australia and the UK), never developed into the hit for TVNZ 1 that it was for ITV.
However, last month Victoria reigned online.
Reports TVNZ Sales about it being in demand on-demand: “Victoria has been added to favourites 30,000 times since September! 1/3rd of these were added by users in November alone.
“The show took off last month with more than 200,000 streams and is popular with females 35+, who index highly with this show.”
It ranked fourth in the month’s top 10 most-streamed shows, averaging 31,000 an episode after Grey Anatomy’s 42,000, Shortland Street’s 39,000 and The Walking Dead’s 36,000.
The fifth most streamed series, The Flash, averaged 29,000 streams an episode, which was up 7% month-on-month, and was “hugely popular” with males 35 and under.
TVNZOD had 1.4 million verified registration in November and was mostly viewed on desktops.
