Watch Out for The Shrink Next Door
The new Apple TV+ dark comedy The Shrink Next Door will premiere on November 12.
The eight-episode limited series will open with three episodes, then stream subsequent episodes weekly.
Inspired by true events, it details the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Paul Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Will Ferrell).
Over the course of their relationship, the all-too-charming Ike slowly inserts himself into Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s Hamptons home and persuading Marty to name him president of the family business.
The series explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction at its finest.
Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson co-star, Michael Showalter and Jesse Peretz direct; the series is based on the #1 new podcast of 2019 by Wondery and Bloomberg Media.
News of the premiere follows Apple+ announcing an August 20 premiere for season two of Truth Be Told.
The anthology drama stars Octavia Spencer as an investigative reporter-turned-true crime podcaster who, in S2, dives into a case that deeply involves her childhood friend, media mogul Micah Keith (Kate Hudson).
As developments unfold, their lifelong friendship is put to the ultimate test.
