Wild and Crazy Quote of the Day
Steve Martin, who stars in Sunday’s Sky Movies HD debut of It’s Complicated, has been deemed so boring in an on-stage interview that the organisers refunded the audience’s money.
It seems there was too much yakkety-yak about Martin’s art world interests and not enough about his movie career, so much so that organisers said the interview “did not meet the standard of excellence that you have come to expect from 92nd St Y”.
Martin told The Times the Y’s response was “discourteous”, adding: “It seemed to me that a consultation was at least in order. As for the Y’s standard of excellence, it can’t be that high because this is the second time I’ve appeared there.”
Meanwhile, TV3’s HD re-run of the cheesy Martin comedy, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, appeared to have bored most of its audience.
On Thursday it drew only 7.6% of TV3’s core demo, 18-49 year-olds, compared with the 12.3% TV2’s trio of Crash Course, Motorway Patrol and The Vampire Diaries averaged over the same two hours.
However, it was more competitive with Vampire Diaries and largely out-rated it with 25-54 year-olds, which the network is targeting as its chief audience for 2011.

To be fair to Steve Martin, later reports from people that attended the event all seem to point to the fact that it was actually a problem with the interviewer and the way she was interviewing Steve Martin, rather than Steve Martin being boring – one of the best reports I’ve seen is at http://emdashes.com/2010/12/more-on-martin-and-solomon-and.php
