ZeroZeroZero New Neon Hero

Sky’s streaming platform Neon reckons it does a better job of delivering what Kiwis want than global services like Netflix and Disney+.

Today it announced the number of unique viewers on March 6 was the second highest due to the fast tracking of shows like ZeroZeroZero (above) and New Amsterdam, which weren’t meant to launch until later this month.

“We’re local, and our team makes changes for lockdowns, long weekends and rubbish weather,” Ricki Taiaroa, Neon’s Head of Entertainment Streaming, says.

“We’re in touch with what Aotearoa needs and we’re unshackled by a worldwide schedule or algorithm.”

Another lockdown in Aotearoa’s biggest city meant New Zealanders were looking for entertainment to take the edge off. Never one to backdown from a challenge, Neon delivered in spades with one of the biggest weeks ever.

Ricki Taiaroa, Neon’s Head of Entertainment Streaming says, “Over the last week our top series included New Amsterdam, ZeroZeroZero, A Discovery of Witches, Yellowstone and, not forgetting our youngest Neon watchers, Paw Patrol.

“While some of these were on our schedule to launch for March, the Neon crew hustled, as they always do, to reshuffle content and make sure everyone had something awesome to watch, when they needed it most.

“We’re local, and our team makes changes for lockdowns, long weekends and rubbish weather. We’re in touch with what Aotearoa needs and we’re unshackled by a worldwide schedule or algorithm.”

Neon experienced the 2nd highest number of unique viewers on Saturday night (6 March), after bringing forward the release of the exclusive narco-trafficking tour de force, ZeroZeroZero, to give Aucklanders, in particular, something to binge while in lockdown.

Taiaroa says, “As part of the Sky family we’re proud we can deliver another way to entertain New Zealanders.

“From the dashing Dr Max Goodwin in New Amsterdam, the critically acclaimed historic romp The Great or the hotly anticipated fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale on Neon, to Sky Super Rugby Aotearoa via your Sky box or Sky Sport Now or a wealth of blockbuster movies on Sky Go – we’re delivering what Kiwis want, where, how and when they want it.

“We’re excited about what comes next and we’re stoked to continue our growth as New Zealand’s number 1 paid local subscription service and being the local challenger in that space.

“We’ll keep pushing the boundaries and doing what’s right by our customers.”
